THE CHURCH OF CHRIST THE KING

Christ in you - His Kingdom in the world

RANDOM ACTS OF RELIGION

If random acts of religion can never reveal the Kingdom of God neither can the most carefully prepared speech reveal the life of the Spirit - unless the one delivering it is living in the spirit. To be in the spirit is to be in union with God by the One Spirit because Christ is our life. Here we have abandoned the dualism between what is and what can be and we so simply are. We are the sons of God alive in the son.

‘But the one who joins himself to the Lord is one spirit with Him’ 1 Cor 6.17 NASB

A Spirit filled teaching is more than anointed. It is life that flows from the teacher from God. Things will be revealed that go beyond the teacher’s understanding. The content of the talk will be far larger than the talk itself because it was bathed in the infinite. One can teach with a lot of references, citations and all kinds of analogies. But such teaching lacks life and is often boring. It did not come from God. It is laboured and makes people tired. It's content is much less than the words in which it came. It shrinks your being.

Anything seeded by revelation will be better than the harvest of theology. Any theology that is life-giving will have emerged from revelation. Truth cannot produce spirit but the spirit of Christ will grow spirit and truth.

‘And it is the Spirit who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth’ 1 John 5.6 NIV.

WHAT IS TRUTH?

In the Kingdom of God, truth is never an independent entity. It exists in the Spirit of God and is defined by God. It is the expression of Christ the living word. Thus truth can only be known by living in God. It can never arise from the polemics of the knowledge of good and evil.

Truth is known when we live in the spirit - spirit being the Spirit of Christ. Here truth is a person, a state of being and a state of knowing. This ‘knowing’ is not ‘knowing’ as in assenting to a proposition. It is ‘knowing’ as in being filled with revelation. This is why truth is a person; why Jesus is the way, the truth and the life.

We can cannot live the truth by wearing a burqa or by keeping Sabbaths. Truth is not information, knowledge or behaviour. It is not things we wear, days we observe or "getting it right." It is not ‘a balanced view,’ not practical ‘know-how’ or academic precision. Truth is. Truth is the state of
being in God through His Son, Jesus Christ.

Let’s be clear. In Him, that is in God, you will know truth and the truth will set you free. This truth, the person of Jesus, will give you eyes that see and ears that hear. You will be living in the light of the world, the light that is life and the life in which the entire world holds together.

‘And the same one who descended is the one who ascended higher than all the heavens, so that he might fill the entire universe with himself’ Eph 4.10 NLT.

If the world holds together in Jesus, so do you. All that exists finds its form and function in Jesus in the Spirit. Yet the Spirit is not simply a neutral force. It is the person of God and by definition the love of God. God is love and Spirit is love. When we live in the Spirit of Christ we live in this love and begin to multiply the new creation. As more and more people make Christ their life rather than materialism or religion their life, the kingdom of God begins to grow.

Positioned in the flesh, the law or the letter, we will never express the Kingdom of God. In this mode our sermons can never be more than delivered essays and our plans and programs shells without an inner life. Church growth that is the mere planting of structure and method will plant tares but not sons of God. It is people that advance His Kingdom because it is people who are the Kingdom. These are the sons of the Father and the priests of the King.

The Kingdom of God is the extension of His love nature into the creation through people like you. It is His life as the creation. Thus He really is the Vine and we are the branches. In Him society becomes the fruit of His life. This is the whole world declaring His glory.
