Christ in you - His Kingdom in the world

Fullness in Christ is ours as we worship and live the real Jesus and His complete gospel. Paul describes this as Christ our life and Christ in you. Theologians have called it the vicarious humanity of Jesus – a phrase that denotes that Jesus is all things us in relation to Himself as Lord, in relation to God and to our belonging as daughters and sons with the Holy Family. In Christ there is nothing undone. Which is why we must make Him our life and not dilute Him with add-ons or specious doctrines.

‘But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let them be under God's curse!’ Gal 1.8 NIV. Any variation from the gospel of Jesus, John and Paul dilutes Christ’s accomplishments for us and cripples our being.

Throughout the Bible, dilutions of Christ and His accomplishments for us have been called adultery, from adulterated. Adulterated water might have mud as an additive or alcohol or hydrochloric acid. There are adulterations of various toxicity – all them poisonous and debilitating to those whose true fullness is to be a king and a priest of the Lord.

We have no right to a perspective of our own. Any diversion from the teaching of Jesus and the apostles is illegitimate and degrades our sonship. It makes god in our own image and distorts and cripples those who have a right to live in fullness and boldness as daughters and sons of the King.

The gospel of the Kingdom is extremely simple and absolutely profound.
Francois Du Toit has expressed this in the observation and declaration that to see Jesus is to see yourself. No, we are not deities. But we are sons. That’s as high a ranking as can be had in the order of creation –which makes you wonder why Believers can be content in subsisting as mere sinners or just church-goers. Nothing wrong with church but the description of your being is not found in religion. The mirror of your being is Jesus Christ.

In Jesus we have the identity of a son. In anything less we do not.

The gospel of the Kingdom is holistic. Jesus is incarnated in you and you are the expression of Him. The church is Jesus manifest. The notion that anything grounded in the law can be holistic needs to be treated as the nonsense it is. ‘Law’ produces the ‘letter.’ It takes persons and personality to be ‘whole’ and manifest holistically. And it does. You are the manifestation of Jesus.

So lets be done with the touting of private gospels as though they came from God. They cripple people. They leave them unhealed and faint shadows of their real selves. Grace can help such people get by. Truth will make them whole and complete. What parent would leave their child unhealed if it were found that they had a hole in the heart? Yet there are half-gospels that produce half people.

‘If anyone causes one of these little ones--those who believe in me--to stumble, it would be better for them if a large millstone were hung around their neck and they were thrown into the sea’ Mark 9.42 NIV.

It’s not good enough to justify aberrant doctrines, private perspectives and other gospels on the ground that this is ‘our identity’ or what our fathers taught when these ideas destroy the wholeness of people. It falls into the category of ‘
causing one of these little ones to stumble.’

‘Jesus replied, "Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them’ John 14.23 NIV.
